A rat named Scooby

Zane really wanted his own pet rat, so we went and let him pick out his own little buddy. Ember thought it would be fun to have all the rats name start with the letter ' s' . The only name that zane liked that started with the letter 'S' was scooby. I think he watches to much scooby doo.

Jason was in airbands yearly this year. I finally had a bit of time to figure out how to crop his parts out of the video of the whole evening. here are a few of the performances he was in.

Zane's Room

Zane loves scooby doo and has for a while now. Before he could say scooby do he use to call him Doo Ya Ya. We let the kids pick the color of the walls for their rooms and Zane's favorite color is orange, it is not my favorite but it makes him happy. He has the room to himself, but he wanted a bed like Ember so we put the bunkbed in his room. He thinks his bed is really cool.

Ember's Room

When we first moved in the basement was all open and had a bar area. we took out the bar area and made into a bedroom. once we had the bedroom finished, Ember thought she wanted to move her room into the basement, that is what brought on all the switching of rooms. Her new room is smaller than her old room, so be got her a loft bed so she would have more floor space. We were worried how everything would fit, but it turned out ok. She tie dyed her own curtain over the easter break.

Shadow & Sparkle

for those of you who don't know, we got rid of our cats and let the kids get some hamsters. Ember had a run of bad luck with her hamsters. the first one she got was really mean, so we took it back and got a different one. The second hamster had a accident when one of Ember's friends were over here playing and he did not survive. we got her a third hamster which ended up dying too. She then decided she didn't want to have another hamster so she got a little mouse, it ended up dying as well. Zander got a hamster at the same time Ember got her's and it lived until about the time Ember's mouse died.

The kids thought instead of getting another hamster or mouse that they wanted to get pet rats. I did some research and found out they are alot better pet for kids then hamsters or mice. They don't bite, they are social animals so they want to be around people, they get attached to people. They are also very smart so you can teach them to come when you call them as well as other tricks.

We went into town yesterday and picked up two female rats. They are just babies, and they were still with thier mom when we picked them out. They kids really like them. The rats are still a little scared about the new surroundings but hopefully in a few days they will start to relax a bit. the kids are really excited about teaching them tricks once they get use their new home.

Zane likes the rats but he needs to learn to settle down a bit, the rats get scared because he bounces around alot and is very loud.

This one is Shadow Zander's rat. Zander does really well with Shadow, and wants to hold him alot. Zander was scared to pick up his hamster and didn't want much to do with it, he thinks the rat is alot cooler then the hamster.

Easter

We died eater eggs on Saturday. The easter bunny hid all the eggs inside the house, it was too muddy for the easter bunny to go outside this year. It didn't take the kids long to find the eggs but they had fun. The easter bunny will have to hide them harder next year lol. That was our easter, everyone was too sick to got anywhere.

Special Day for Zander

Zander turned five on Saturday. We are moving all of the bedrooms around, and painting them so the kids can each have their own room. Zane and Zander have been sharing since we move here. Ember moved into the basement, Zander moved into Ember's old room upstairs. We finished Zander's room jst in time for him to move into and sleep in on his birthday. He was so proud to have his own room. We painted his room in the bakugan theme. all the little cirlce designs are bakugan balls. It was a lot of work but it was worth it.

Zander's Birthday

Zander's birthday is really on April 11, but that Easter weekend this year, so we decided to have his party early. This is a pic of Zander and his friends.

We started the birthday party with a bunch of games, "Wake up little doggie", Bear and Tiger, Freeze dance, and a snowball fight. the snowballs were balls of socks. the kids all joined together and attack Jay

for those who are not sure what they are looking at, Zander's cake is a Bakugan, on a bakugan card. I think it turned out really good. bakugan are little balls that are rolled onto cards, when two bakugan's are on the same card they battle, and who ever has the most point from the battles wins.

We got Zander a power wheel quad, I think it will get a lot of use this summer.

One Toe in the Grave

Jason decided to try doing a drama production, after a lot of convincing. There is a drama club here in Rouleau, that does a dinner theater and air bands every year. They thought that since Jay loved air bands that he might want to try drama. He complained everytime there was a practice but in the end, he said that he might do it again another year. I guess i wasn't that bad after all. The play was a comedy, and there where not a lot of people in the play so everyone had to learn a lot of lines. They did a very good job. This is a picture of the whole cast, i didn't take the picture so don't complain about the quality.

Dance Competition

We spent the day at a dance competition, both Ember and Zander were preforming. It was a very good day, and I am very proud of my kids. Ember's first dance was her group hip hop, they danced to "Get your head in the game". They were dressed as basket ball players and had a basket ball as a prop. The won first in thier divison.

Zander was the next one to dance, he was dressed as a duck, and danced (tap) to the song " Splish Splash" They were so cute, Zander was in the centre of the stage with a huge smile. They didn't win first, but did awsome.

Ember had her tap performance next. they danced to the song "Crazy little thing". They did great again and walked away with another first place.
Ember decided to to a jazz duet this year, they danced to "Jail house Rock" They only had two hours of lesson time to learn the whole dance routine. They did some after hour practicing at home. They ended up winning second in their division.


Ember's last dance of the night was her goup jazz. They danced to "Girls just want to have Fun". The girls actually preformed a lift as part of their performance, it was suprising to see the girls do a lift at that age, but they did it great.They got third in this division. I was not able to get a pic of this outfit, not enough time between her duet and this one.

It was a long day for Zane, but he was a trooper and made it to the end, with just a little cat nap after supper.

I was not allowed to take pic when the kids were on stage, so i will try and get some video's and some better pics at the recital in April.

skiing

On March 14, I took Ember and Breann, one of Ember's fiends skiing at Mission Ridge. It was really nice out that day, and we had alot of fun. We started by taking a ski lesson and then took a lunch break. we hit the slopes again and did not stop until it they closed the runs.
