First hockey game

Zander played his first hockey game of the season on Sat. He was very excited about playing an actual game but I think as it got closer to game time he started to get a little nervous. He as only had six practices. The first practice he could stand up on his skates but could only shuffle his feet a little bit and if he fell down he could not get back up on his own. He can now skate from one end of the rink to the other, starting to turn a little better and can get up on his own.

He did great in his game. The game as two 30 min periods, and each set of kids were on the ice for 3 minutes at a time. The players got to rotate positions. Zander was happy that he got to be center for the first puck drop of the game. He also wanted to play in goal, and he got the chance for that too, and he was able to stop a puck. I think he let one in too but he stopped one and that made him happy.

They lost their first game but Zander had fun, and that is what matters. There next game is next Sat.

Jake

I brought home Jake on Thursday afternoon. He is a purebreed, registered harliquin great dane. He will be two years old on Valintine's day. His old owners were moving out of province and thought it would be easier to find him a new home then take him with them.

He has been so good since we got him, and it looks like we made a good choice bringing him home. He was use to being around six kids at his old home so he loves being around the kids and knows how to act around them. He is getting along with the cat and Odie, he doesn't chase them but he does want to play with them. He likes to watch the bird and the rats but doesn't pay to much attention to them.

Jay's soft spot

The day before halloween Jay found a kitten outside in the cold. He thought it would be a good idea if he brought it in and let it warm up for a little bit. After a few hours he kicked it back outside. The kitten was still around in the moring, and was brought back in the house to stay.
We named her Polly.

Halloween

A lava monster, I was not sure what a lava monster was, but Zane thought his costume was a great lava monter.

A vampire

A witch. Ember wanted to buy a $40 witch costume but I thought I could make one a lot cheaper. We bought the dress from value village, and th hat from the dollar store. the other fabric I had in my box of halloween stuff. I think it turned out ok.

This is the outside of the house. New to the hallowen props this years was the working electiric chair. When someone sat in it, it would light up, make a noise and vibrate. The grim reaper in the front had blood pouring out of the skull it was holding. It looked better in the dark when the spot light was on it, but i didn't get a picture of it after dark.

This was our bathroom, their was writting on the mirror with blood as well but the pic didn't turn out very well.

more pics of the inside of the house

The jars were filled with spiders, frogs and bats.

This was the way to the basement where the kids had their own party going on.

Thanks for the Support

For some stange reason I decided to run for town council out here in Rouleau. There are twelve people campaining for six positions. I will find out on Wed if I made it or not. I will post my results once I know. Jay put a sign in the yard for the competition, not sure what he was thinking, thanks for the support, Jay lol. Cody was nice and made a sign for me. I put a sign on the house but I was not sure how many would see it so I put some signs on the side of my van too. I just wanted to let everyone know that I didn't get enough votes to make it onto town council. I wasn't at the bottom of the list, I beat out a couple of people so that was good. I am not too upset that I didn't win. I can try again in a few years lol.

Gearing up for hockey

Jay helped the boys try on all of their hockey gear last night. The boys were so excited, it made their night. Zane had a hard time moving around but I am sure he will get better after he has it on a few more times. Hockey starts in the first part of Novemeber.

oktoberfest

the school had oktoberfest the friday before thanksgiving. the kids had to dress up, and they served perogies and sausage at lunch. These are my homemade costumes.

Snake!

Jay found a snake outside of his work shop a and thought the boys might like to see it, so i went to go and pick it up. The boys wanted to keep it so we put it in an fish tank. The snake turned out to be good at escaping. Yesterday the snake got out of the tank and was loose in the house for 4 hours. After we found him we desided that he would be happier outside and we let him go.

Welcome back BBQ at school

The school had an open house and BBQ. They also had a clown that made ballon animals, face painting, bingo and fun games going on in the gym.
