Cookies for Santa

We had to make cookies for Santa today because the store bought ones were just not good enough. The kids made a big mess but they had lots of fun. Zander enjoyed eating the cookie dough more than making cookies. He also ate more sprinkles than he put on the cookies.

Christmas ornaments

Grandma and Grandpa Fleming sent the kids some christmas tree ornaments to make for our tree. Things have been so busy that we haven't had time to make them yet, so we had to do them today before it was too late.

Ember is really crafty so she was done really fast. Zander took his time, it was the first time that he made a craft like this. They each made two santa's and two reindeer. Grandma and Grandpa also sent some ornaments that the kids could color. They had alot of fun.

Foster puppy

Jay thought the kids might like to see the puppy so he brought it home for the night. It was not very good timing on showing the kids, right at supper so no one really ate at all, they were to excited to see what dad brought home. It is hard to believe that puppies can be this tiny.

Santa and his Reindeer

On the 17th we went to see Santa and his Reindeer. The kids were excited to see Santa and one of his real reindeer. We had to hold Zander back because he didn't want to wait his turn. Once it was his turn he was not happy at all, not sure if it was seeing Santa or the reindeer up close. Once we got off santa's lap and on the other side of a fence Zander was laughing and pointing at the Reindeer again. Santa was really nice and let the kids pet his reindeer.

Trim the Tree

Last friday Jay got into the Christmas spirt. He went shopping, to get a lightbulb and came home with a couple of bags of Christmas decorations. He had to put them up right away, I don't know who was worse Jay or Ember " can we set up the tree yet ??" We had to do some rearranging of furniture to make room before we could put the tree up. It was a busy day but everyone had fun putting up decorations.

A star is born

Ember had her school Christmas concert yesterday. She had two performances one in the afternoon and one in the evening. She did very well but she seem to be paying more attention to what Mom and Dad were doing then paying attention to the teacher. The kindergarden class sang two songs, Christmas is my Favorite time of Year and Making Christmas Cookies. The kindergarden class came back and joined the rest of the classes for the last song, Shine a light for peace.

I bought Ember a new outfit to wear and she got her hair cut before the evening performance. The hair dresser cut and styled it for her, she felt very special. Ember thought she look like a princess.

Good time, First time

We took the kids ice skating for the first time today. They were both very excited. Zander couldn't wait for Ember to get ready so I took him out on the ice while Ember and Jay finished getting ready. Zander thought it was great but he didn't want to stay still, it was just go, go, go.

Ember did really well for her first time skating. She was able to skate a little ways by herself before it was time to go. She got really good at getting back up after she fell, and she didn't get upset once about falling down.

Ember didn't want to leave the rink when it was time to go. This is an activity that we will have to do again.

Wagon Ride

There were free wagon rides at the Golden Mile Mall today. We got to ride in a wagon that was pulled by two Belgian horses named Fred and Andy. We went around the parking lot twice because the kids didn't want to get off the first time. Ember was lucky and was able to ride up front the second time we went around.

Who made this big mess?

We decided to spend our night making a gingerbread house. I am too lazy to make the gingerbread so I sent Jay out to buy a kit. It is a lot easier than making your own. We tried this when Ember was about Zander's age and it did not work out that well, tonight went a lot better, the house stayed together this time. Everything went together well but it was a lot more messy and harder to keep track of two kids instead of just one. We made out not too bad, take a look and let us know what you think. Everyone took part decorating the house. Here are a few of the pictures we took tonight.

We ended up having a icing fight, good old family fun. Zander did not like the idea at all he got quite upset. Ember thought it was great until I got icing on her face, then the fun was over.

This is how it all turned out in the end.
